Celebrating National Margarita Day

At Mexico’s Velas Resorts, fresh margaritas are plentiful, featuring local ingredients, innovative adaptations and standout presentations. But since many travelers may be celebrating National Margarita Day at home this year, the award-winning resort collection shares three new recipes, tequila tasting tips and more to celebrate together - apart.

To complement a Classic Margarita (recipe below), the resorts share recipes for both a tangy passion fruit Velas Margarita and a body-beneficial charcoal Margarita Night, here. Additionally, tequila enthusiasts can learn tips and tricks for drinking their favorite beverage and its historyon Velas Magazine.

Velas Margarita


  • 1.5 oz. Espolòn Silver Tequila

  • 1 oz. Grand Marnier

  • 1 oz. Passion Fruit Pulp

  • ¾ oz. Coconut Cream

  • 1 oz. Lime Juice

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice then shake.

  2. Serve margarita in an old fashioned glass with ice.

  3. Garnish with orange peel and grated coconut then serve.
